Name: John Logie Baird
Dates: 1888-1946
Notes: Inventor and television engineer. Born in Helensburgh, Scotland. Studied Engineering at the University of Glasgow, 1914-1915. Worked for the Clyde Valley Electrical Power Company before leaving to concentrate on business interests. Gave first demonstration of practical television system to members of the Royal Institution, 1926. The Baird Television Development Company made the first transatlantic television transmission in 1928.
