Name: Joseph Swan
Dates: 1796-1872
Notes: Engraver and publisher. Served apprenticeship in Edinburgh. Took over a Glasgow engraving and copperplate printing business in 1818. Committee member of The Glasgow Mechanics' Institution and provided many illustrations for The Glasgow Mechanics' Magazine. His commercial and critically successful publications include 'Select Views of Glasgow and its Environs' (1828), 'Select Views on the River Clyde' (1830) and 'Select Views of the Lakes of Scotland' (1834).
