Name Details

Name: Glasgow Grammar School
Notes: The Grammar School can be dated back to the 15th century. In the early 19th century it had 800 pupils who were taught Latin, Greek, and writing. New departments were established, including English and Mathematics. The school's name was changed to the High School of Glasgow in 1834, and in 1872 it was transferred to the Glasgow School Board. Some of the school's archives are in Glasgow's Mitchell Library, and there is some ephemera in Glasgow University Library.
