Name: Edward Provan Cathcart
Dates: 1877-1954
Notes: Physiologist. Born in Ayr, Scotland. Graduated from University of Glasgow in 1900 and continued his studies in Germany.
He returned to the University of Glasgow and was Grieve Lecturer in Physiological Chemistry (1905-1915); Professor of Physiological Chemistry (1919-1929) and Professor of Physiology (1929-1947). His main interest was human dietary habits and he undertook some of his research with John Boyd Orr. Chairman of the Scottish Health Services Committee, 1933-1936 and represented the university on the General Medical Council, 1933-1945.
