Content: Notes on moral philosophy by Francis Hutcheson, based on his lectures. Published posthumously as 'A system of moral philosophy' (1755).
Ordered and divided into various chapters. Begins: Book I. Concerning the constitution of Human Nature, and the Supreme Good. Chapter I. Of the Constitution of Human Nature and its Powers, and first the Understanding, Will and Passions.'
Pp 1-376 are in Hutcheson's handwriting; the remainder is in the hand of an amanuensis. At the front of the volume there is an autograph note from William Leechman to Robert Foulis regarding the division of the work for printing, 3 July 1753.
