Remarks: The verso of the first folio is written over in pencil (?by Dr. J. Letherland) with references to MSS. at Paris and Leyden, etc., now hardly decipherable.
The first quire of seven folios (except for these inscriptions and some scattered Arabic writing) is blank, as is also the last of four.
Inserted loose at the end is a pencilled note by the binder: The boards of this volume were lined with MS. paper, the same writing as the book.
The first quire (blank) has a number of verses and names of former owners, namely, on the 11th folio, Muhammad Hadi (?obliterated) in 1155 A.H. (1742 A.D.), Al Hasanu'bn Isma'ila'l Sha'bani (?) in 1191 A.H. (1777 A.D.); on the verso of the 12th folio, Zaid ibn Hasan, Hasan ibn Yusuf, followed by Yusufu'bn Muhammad son of the Caliph Al Mahdi; Ahmad son of the Caliph Al Mansur; and Al Kasim son of Muhammad son of the Apostle; with the date, Ramadan 1153 A.H. (Dec. 1740 A.D.).
The copyist's name is Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn 'Abdi'llah.
Dated Al Madinah 9th Rejeb 1131 A.H. (16th May, 1719 A.D.).

Paper, 12 3/4 x 8 5/8, ff. 234, beautifully written in double cols. of 13 lines, each 7 3/4 x 2, double lined red margins, rubrics, sub-titles and punctuation in red and gamboge, few marginalia, fairly clean and well preserved. (1131 A.H., 1718-9 A.D.)
Binding: Millboards, covered crimson morocco, blind-tooled, stamped on both boards (centres and corners) over gilt paper plaques recently repaired, original leather side-covers preserved
