On the second recto T.S. Bayer has written: Tschuva tschuve udschu | hoc est | Duodecim Capita | in quibus | omnes litterae et syllabae | Scripturae Mandsurensis | continetur [or continentur?] [the Manchu characters, transliterated in the first line, are written in large size vertically with (?Russian) equivalents in red] | Descripsi e libro typis edito in | Sinis, cui adiecta erat | interpretatio manu | Ruthenica. | Anno 1730 Decembris | Quamquam Ruthenus in quibusdam erravit | tamen eius errores quoque accurate | secutus sum. | Librum ipsum Comes de Bruce Summus belli | dux ad me transmisit.

Cordier's description (Bibliotheca Sinica, col. 1653) adds:
'P. 29. Elementa Calmucica descripta ex autographo Lobsang Ischi quondam scribae apud Calmuers deinde a Russis capti baptizati nomine Wasili Timofejew. T.S.B. Petropoli mense maio 1731. - 3 pages.
'P. 35. Syllabarium Mandgjuricum et Mungalicum a me conainnatum postea curis posterionibus mendatum.'

Bayer, written (in 1) in 6 parallel cols. in red and black of about 12 lines, each about 7 3/4 x 1, margined with ink, ruled with pencil, (in 2) ruled and margined with pencil, (in 3) mainly in 12 cols. of 23 lines, each 10¼ x 5/8, partially paged (1-24) in ink, throughout in pencil (1-52).
