Begins - after a title-page occupying f. 3 recto - Globus Coelestis Sinicus | aeri incisus | anno primo Imperatoris Ium Chim | i.e. A.C. 1723. | Accedit mea huius Globi Coelestis interpretatio; and the engraved map attached medially to f. 4 recto - (f. 4 recto line 1): Globus Coelestis Sinicus | explicatus

Remarks: The leaves are formed of pairs of sheets of Russian foolscap paper pasted together medially and measuring 18 1/8 x 28¼, and are stitched into four quires of 6, 4, 4 and 2 leaves respectively. Ff. 1, 2, 3 verso, 4 recto, 5 verso, 12 verso-16 verso are blank.
The Star map exhibits the Northern and Southern Stellar Hemispheres; and, in the crosshatched border, the Sun with its spots, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn, while the lower margin contains in 53 vertical columns an enumeration of the stars indicated above. The title: HO'AM TAO ÇUM SIM T'U [in Chinese characters] = "Table of the Ecliptic and of all the Stars".
Inserted loose between ff. 3 and 4 is a large sheet, 25 x 18½, of coarse Chinese paper, folded and addressed: Prenobili, ac Clarissimo Domino Domino Theophilo Sigefrido | Bayero in Imperatoria Scientiarum Academia | Antiquitatum etc. Professori. | Petropoli.
A sheet of the same coarse paper as in front inserted loose between ff. 14 and 15 contains practically the same address.

Paper (Russian), 18 1/8 x 14 1/8, ff. 16, written by T.S. Bayer, in double cols. of about 36 lines, each about 17 x 6¼, ff. 4. 5. consist of a sheet of fine Chinese paper (18 1/8 x 26) on which is engraved the star map, which measures 15 7/8 x 24 3/4. Cent. XVIII.
Binding: Limp marbled-paper covers, binding and leaves loose. Cent. XVIII.
