This is a dictionary, in alphabetical order, of persons and places mentioned in Horace. It does not seem to have been published. It is probably from the pen of David Watson, who is said to have studied at St. Andrews University, and who died, destitute, in London. Watson published a translation into English of Horace and A Clear and Compendious history of the Gods and Goddesses. Doubtless this and those of the following manuscripts that deal with Horace came to William Hunter through James Douglas, who collected several hundred volumes relating to that poet.
Almost certainly Watson acting as amanuensis for James Douglas.
Title only in David Watson's hand.
The rest of the manuscript in I.J. Douglas's handwriting
