Date of Creation: Between 1699 and 1799
Level of Description: Item
Part of MS Hunter 1-658
Content: James Douglas, M.D., F.R.S.
On the fly-leaf is this title, apparently in William Hunter's handwriting: "Part of a Letter giving an Account of some things printed and to be printed". Folio.
The letter is apparently in Douglas's handwriting, and it is probably addressed to Dr. Steigerthal, post 1731. It gives an account of works which Douglas had published or intended to publish.
That this letter was addressed to Dr. Steigerthal is proved from a draft preface to James Douglas's An historical account of the different methods of cutting for the stone, Blackburn Cabinet Papers 12.4 and from internal evidence. It covers observations relevant to an assessment of the various methods of lithotomy: Per C.H. Brock, 23 May 1972
