On 1, 1 recto in a contemporary hand, under text: Version Angloise en langue Francoi= | se par Jean Benard, Secretaire de la | Chambre du Roy, son Interprete et | Historiographe general es langues | septentrionales et estrangeres | 1573. The hand is apparently the same as in the marginal 'heads'. (Query: Jean Benard's?)

Paper, 8 x 6, ff. 58, well written in French notarial hand, in single cols. of 15 lines, each 5 3/4 x 3 3/4, margined with red ink but not ruled, no signatures, catchwords, every page, foliation (contemporary) from 2, 1 recto to 15, 2 recto (ff. 1-54), gilt illuminated initials, red and blue capitals, marginal sub-titles (or heads), no other marginalia, traces of pounce, edges slightly decayed at beginning, otherwise in perfect condition. Late Cent. XVI. (1573).
Binding: Millboards, covered crimson grained Russia, gilt-tooled edges and sides (lines), sham-panelled back, gilt edges, title (gilt): DUC | DE | NORFOLK | M.S. Cent. XVIII.
