Nearly all the initials in the ninth and tenth quires have been wantonly smudged.

The margins of 10, 6 verso and 7 recto contain pencilled scribbles in English (XV.-XVI. Cent.).

The lacuna extends from this passage in ch. 222 to the end of ch. 228. This page is numbered: 131; 13, 1 recto being: 132, showing that the foliation was later than the loss of these chapters. The rubric of the next chapter is numbered: CCXXIXti.
12, 3 verso has the following names in a XVI. Cent. hand: Thomas Smys Jhon Cloland Thomas ffosthere ys a gentyll man.
On 13, 1 recto (f. '132') and 16, 1 recto are indecipherable erasures.
The verso of 15, 1. and the recto of 15, 2. half covered with scribbled names: Jamys Smyth Anthony holyday Thomas ffosther Edmund ffosther and Jhon wylld.
14, 10 verso ends (line 26): here Quarters. = Caxton, p. 295, line 3.
The lacuna here extends to the end of ch. 243. = Caxton, p. 304, line 3.

Vellum, 10 x 7 3/4, ff. 173, originally ff. 176+, well written in one bold hand throughout, in single cols. of 26-31 lines, each 7 x 5, ruled and margined with brown crayon, signatures, catchwords (traces of), foliation, blue initials, rubrics, marginalia (rare), vellum holed and otherwise defective, and patched, several initials effaced and the colour smeared, proper names, etc., underlined with red, much cropped, fol. sec. Here begynnyth. Cent. XV.
Binding: Millboards, covered brown grained Russia, gilt-tooled (lines), back, sides and edges, saffron edges, title (gilt): CRONECLIS | OF | ENGELONDE | M.S. Cent. XVIII.
