Unknown Author, Alphabetical List of Remedies.
On the verso of i, 2. in Dr. Wm. Hunter's handwriting: Medica quędam; pręcipue formulę | medicamentorum. | 1. Ricardi Urine | 2. Kalendarium | 3. Collection of Receipts or Cures | in English.
On 2, 4 [f. '9'] verso is the beginning of a treatise on Urine extending to 37 lines, in a XVI. French hand, beginning: U (rubricated initial) rina est solamentum sanguinis et aliorum humorum ex ac... and ending: Intencionem vt a rufo superius, mediocrem ut subcitrinus
On the recto of the first insertion (f. '10') is a XVI. Cent. autograph: John Narbery.
On the verso of the first insertion is a XVI. Cent. Kalendar of the dies Egyptiaci and boni.
ff. 12, 14, 16, 18 verso contain astrological tables; 12 recto a table of the XII. Signs of the Zodiac; 12 verso a table of the VII. Planets, and the others, annual tables, beginning with '1481' (f. '19' verso) and ending with '1508' (the following years being effaced) on f. 14 recto.
The other inserted leaves contain medical Receipts, &c., in various XVI. Cent. hands.
The second work begins (f. '21') with the letter P, arguing the loss of a quire probably of eight folios.
A reference to 3, 6. 8. as "folia xv" and "xvij" on the verso of f. '29' may have been added before this loss. On f. '33' recto in the upper margin is a (rubricated) . ihc .
f. '49' is another insertion with later additions.
The last work which leaves off abruptly in M, probably occupied another quire of eight folios.
Richard of Wendover, who died 1252, was physician to Gregory IX., then Canon of St. Paul's, commonly called Richard Anglicus. See Dict. Nat. Biog. xlviii. 201.
