On 1, 4 recto are two quotations headed respectively: De Galfrido Arthurio habet | Pitseus Anno domini 1152 | Galfridus cognomento Arthurias etc and: of Geffrey Monmouth out of Godwin's | Catalogue of the Bishops of England, | St Assaph, pag 544. | Galfridus surnamed of some Arthurus etc.
The same XVII. Cent. hand adds another bibliographical note on the verso beginning thus: Concerning Jeffrey of Monmouth Isaacson | in his Chronologie Ad Annum 1151. p. 443. | hath these words [these three words are obliterated] in which hee was made | Bishop of S. Assaph, hath these words. | Jeffrey of Monmouth the Historian, etc.
This writer contributed the additions of the next (title) page, noted above, and after a further note on the verso headed thus: Testimonium Johannis Pitsei libro de | illustribus Anglię Scriptoribus Anno domini 1136. De Alfredo Beverlaceo - supplies the beginning of the first work, from the following page (foliated '1'), to the end of 2, 7 verso [fol. '6', paged '12'].

The second hand (contemporary) continues from the catchword on p. '12' to 16, 3 verso, line 29, and has given the running titles and foliation; the pagination stops at '23', and is the work of the marginal annotator, whose hand appears on 1, 4 verso; 2, 1 recto; 2, 8 verso, etc. (?Thos. Martin of Palgrave's.)
The Rev. Joseph Stevenson, S.J., refers to this MS. in his edition of Nennius, pp. xxvii and 4, and thinks it a transcript of Ff.i.27. in Univ. Lib. Cambridge.

Physical Description: Bound volume.
Paper, 7 3/4 x 6 1/8, ff. 170, well written in four contemporary hands, in single cols. of about 40, 30, and 29 lines respectively, each 6½ x 4½, 7 x 4¼, and 6 3/4 x 4¼, margined with pencil, not ruled, catchwords (every page) throughout, foliation (and subsequent pagination) in 1, 2, and 3, foliation in 4, no signatures, marginalia, running titles (in 1, 2, and 3), cropped, well preserved. No. 4 is written on the rectos only with marginal collations. Cent. XVII.
Binding: Millboards, covered calf, blind-tooled lines, spattered red edges, the front board loose. Cent. XVII.
