Two strips of a XIII.-XIV. Cent. Latin MS., each 7 3/8 x 2, employed by the binder as guards, come between the boards and adjacent fly-leaves.
On ii, 1 recto in an XVIII. Cent. hand: A Treatise | of Distempers
On ii, 1 verso in Dr. Wm. Hunter's hand: An old system of Physic in | English; of which I have another | Copy. This is more compleat | by all that is said on female | disorders in the end. | Tis to undirstonde that a man is maid | of four elements. And evry man hath iiij humors &c.

Vellum, 7 x 5 3/8, ff. 168, originally ff. 170, well written in single cols. of 26 lines, each 6 x 3 3/8, ruled and margined with ink, signatures (mostly cropped), catchwords, foliation (XVI. Cent.), two floreated pages (ff. 13 recto and 149 verso), gilt illuminated initials, blue initials (large and small) with red gestures, paragraph marks red and blue (alternately), few marginalia, the ink has perished in many places in the first four quires, otherwise well preserved, fol. sec. euery colrik body. Cent. XIV.
Binding: Original, pasteboards, covered black calf, gilt-tooled sides and panelled back, originally secured by three (pairs of) ties, vellum back straps, vellum (MS.) side guards. Cent. XIV.
