This shield is surrounded right and left by two saddle girths(?) (or), pink (gules), with stirrups interlaced and bearing each an M buff (or), the whole being surrounded by a laurel wreath (vert).
The ink has disappeared in several places on the first page; a modern hand has attempted to replace some missing letters in the first two lines, e.g. "diba" for "debo".
This capitulary was printed at Venice in 1720. See P. Daru, Histoire de la République de Venise, Paris 1821, T. vii. p. 37.
The fly-leaves are carefully ruled, with margins.
This MS. may have belonged to Joseph Smith, British Consul at Venice. See T. 8. 20.
