On i, 2 verso (under the Hunt. Mus. Lib. label) is the heraldic book-plate with the name of "The Right Honble. Charles | Lord Halifax 1702."
Charles Montagu (1661-1715), first Earl of Halifax (see Dict. Nat. Biog. xxxviii. 218), assisted Patterson to found the Bank of England.
On i, 4 verso is pasted a cutting from a Sale Catalogue: A beautiful Manuscript of Aristotle's Politics and Ethics, translated from | ancient Greek MSs. by Leonardus Aretinus, with curious prefaces, de- | dications and marginal notes. The Ethics were translated by Aretinus | 18 years before the Politics, and inscribed to Pope Martin the V. Le- | onardus says, that he translated this work in the time of the Council of | Constance, while there was a vacancy in the papal chair. This book | is wrote on vellum, in a most legible and beautiful hand, the initials | are gilt and otherways ornamented. These words are wrote at the end, Ethicorum Aristotelis liber decimus et ultimus explicit feliciter in | civitate Florentie, anno Domini nostri Jesu Christi, 1440, de mense Januarii die xxviiii.
On the verso of this is a notice of T.2.20.
On 1, 1 recto top margin (by the scribe): "yhs." In a XVII. Cent. hand: Pauli (?) Sechaarij, | emtus patavij in Italia | Anno 1633. Underneath are two effectual erasures.

Vellum, 10 5/8 x 7 7/8, ff. 120, beautifully written in a fine Florentine hand, in single cols. of 42 lines, each 6 7/8 x 4 3/4, signatures, catchwords, no foliation, gilt and illuminated initials, rubrics, ruled faded ink (red?), margined brown crayon, marginalia, fol. sec. eadem fere. Cent. XV. (29th Jany. 1440).
Binding: Millboards, covered white vellum, gilt-tooled sides and panelled back, coronets in the four corners, spattered edges, title: ARISTOTELIS | POLITICA | ET | ETHICA | L. ARETINI. | M.S. Cent. XVII.-XVIII.
