On iv, 4 verso is attached the heraldic book-plate of Joseph Ames (1689-1759). For J. Ames, see Dict. Nat. Biog. i. 353. See also T.1.9 for a description of the book-plate and V.2.5. The Hunterian Museum book-plate has been destroyed to expose this heraldic book plate.
On 1, 1 recto in a XVI.-XVII. Cent. hand (partially erased): Johannes Oliffe (?) laus. The same hand is seen from the beginning to 12, 7 recto line 5, where a later hand continues to 13, 6 verso line 12. From this point to the end four hands appear. ff. 12, 7 recto line 6-13, 6 verso line 12 have rubrics and initials touched with red.
On 12, 9 verso is a XV. Cent. German receipt: "Ein wasser zuo iuckenden ougen"
On 13, 7 recto are 11 almost illegible lines of XV. Cent. English beginning: Jhesu godis son of a maid was boren (?).
13, 7 verso has, under the date (?) m cc lxx vi . [1276], 14 hexameters (initials touched with red) in a XV. Cent. hand beginning: Delictum curando beatifices animosos.

Vellum, 4¼ x 3 1/8, ff. 108, originally ff. 110, well written in single cols. of 22 lines, each 3 1/8 x 2¼, no signatures, catchwords, or foliation, first page floreated, illuminated initials, red and blue initials and paragraph marks, marginalia, much cropped, fol. sec. et leuitatem. Early Cent. XIII.
Binding: Millboards, covered crimson calf, richly gilt-tooled sides, edges, inner margins, panelled back, gilt edges. Early Cent. XVIII.
