John Wycliffe's New Testament. (First three Gospels):
Begins (1, 1 [f. 1] recto line 1): M [illuminated initial with gestures] Athu [th]at was of Judee as he
Ends (23, 5 [f. 182] verso line 22): mounteyns: and [th]ei [th]at ben in [th]e myd [S. Lk., c. xxi. v. 21].

For John Gale (1680-1721), Baptist Minister, see Dict. Nat. Biog. xx. 374.
The missing folios, beginning each Gospel, were probably stolen for their illuminations. Thus the text of S. Matthew begins ch. i. 15, f. 3 (Eliasar bigat Mathan), while that of S. Mark begins ch. i. 5 f. 75 (al [th]e cuntreye of Judee), and that of S. Luke begins ch. i. 17, f. 121 (and he schal go bifore hym).
This MS. is No. 148 in Forshall & Madden's list.
