Begins - after a 'tabula' which occupies the first quire, beginning (1, 2 [f. 1 (2)] recto lines 1, 2): Tabula super palladio de Agricultura in anglicum metrice translato [rubric]. A [small gilt initial with black ink ornament and gestures] yer . water . londe and gouernaunce . 1 . c . d, and ending (1, 10 [f. 6 (10)] verso lines 23, 24): Ziziphus fruytis for to keepe . 74 . a . b. | Explicit tabula . deo gracias. - (2, 4 [f. '3'] recto line 1): V [rubricated initial] che graffe and grayne is good . but after preef.
Ends (13, 8 [f. '93'] verso line 28): Wol ben gress . if hit be wattred ofte.

The Rev. Barton Lodge, who edited this work for E.E.T. Society in 1873, was not aware of this MS. when he entitled his work: "Palladius on Husbondrie. From the unique MS. of about 1420 A.D. in Colchester Castle."
The missing word in that edition in Bk. III. stanza 22, line 153: "Thus better wyne and besiness," is supplied in this MS.: "Thus better wyn . and smaller besynesse." Bk. IV. st. 123, l. 839 (p. 228), "That thai may mylk her foles abundance," is in this MS., "That they may milk her folis aboundaunce."
On i, 6 recto is a pencilled note (by the Rev. Joseph Stevenson, S.J.): "the leaves in this MS. are miserably wrong placed."

Physical Description: Bound volume.
Vellum, 9 1/8 x 6 3/8, ff. 64, originally more than ff. 104 (probably ff. 126), well written in single cols. of 28-32 lines, each 6 x 3, four 7-lined stanzas to a page, double margined and ruled in violet ink, signatures, catchwords, and foliation (contemporary), illuminated initials (blue, with red ornament and gestures), small initials red and blue alternately, running titles (similar), rubrics, stanzas numbered alphabetically (these letters and the first letter of each line touched with vermilion), vellum fine, but unequal in quality, no marginalia, fol. sec. Ayer. water. Cent. XIV.-XV.
Binding: Millboards, covered vellum, vellum back-straps, blind-tooled (sides), gilt-tooled lines (back), title printed vertically (gilt) on back (stained crimson): FRAGMENT OF PALLADIUS DE AGRICALTURA | TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH METRE. Cent. XVII.-XVIII.
