Call Number: MS Hunter 76 (T.3.14)
Date of Creation: Between 1599 and 1699
Place of Creation: England
Level of Description: Item
Part of MS Hunter 1-658
Content: John Selden, Of the Privileges of the Baronage.
John Selden(?), Observations Concerning the Nobility of England Ancient and Modern.

John Selden(?), Of Knights and Knighthood.
2, 3, 4 are not in the list of Selden's publications in the Dict. Nat. Biog., article by Sir Edward Fry. See T.4.14 (Hunt. Mus. Lib.). This volume has been much injured by damp and nearly half the quires are loose.
The end quires are much disarranged. The twenty-ninth quire, of five folios (ff. 225-8, 232), which was originally the twenty-eighth, of eight, has had three folios cut out (29, 1. 2. 7.), the text of which is now supplied in the (loose) twenty-eight quire (28, 1-3) as is shown by the catchwords. The original textual arrangement of the present twenty-ninth quire is represented by the following sequence: 28, 1. (f. 231), 28, 2. (f. 230), 29, 1 (3). (f. 225), 29, 2 (4). (f. 226), 29, 3 (5). (f. 227), 29, 4 (6). (f. 228), 28, 3. (f. 229), 29, 5 (8). (f. 232).
The relationship of the two quires is shown in the diagram (For details see: John Young and P. Henderson Aitken, A Catalogue of the Manuscripts in the Library of The Hunterian Museum in The University of Glasgow. (Glasgow, 1908), p. 84.), where the dotted lines, indicating the lost folios in the latter quire, are numbered to correspond with the supplementary folios of the former.
