On 1, 1 recto top margin, in XVII. Cent. hand: vi liures, xxxix sous.
On 2, 1 recto the historiated U contains two figures, in flat black caps with white lappets (like babies' caps), and cowled academical gowns with long sleeves, who discuss a vessel filled with crimson fluid.
In the margins are spirited sketches in pen and ink of hounds, hares, etc., to mark passages, as well as the usual.
On 19, 8 verso in XV-XVI. Cent. hand: feullyes viijxx vij. ... | Ce liure de ypocras est | au duc de nemours | conte de la marche | Ipocras [in a flourish] | Pour carlat.

Vellum, 15 3/4 x 10 5/8, ff. 172, well written in French hand in double cols. (text larger hand than commentary) of 51-74 lines, each 10 5/8 x 3, ruled and margined with brown crayon, signatures (cropped), catchwords (cropped), no foliation, gilt illuminated and historiated (one on 2, 1 recto) initials with gestures, red initials with purple ornament and gestures, blue initials with red ornament and gestures, rubrics, red and blue (alternately) running titles and paragraph marks (not in first quire), copious marginalia, cropped, but otherwise well preserved, fol. sec. Masculus. Cent. XIV.
Binding: Millboards, replacing original bevelled beech-boards, covered with (original stamped lacquered leather, imprint left of the original, ornamental brass bosses at all corners and clasps, now gone, recently re-backed, etc., gilt edges goffered, title (gilt) on crimson morocco shield: HIPPOCRATES. Cent. XIV.
