On i, 1 recto in XVIII. Cent. hand: Vol. VI. On i, 2 recto in the same hand: J.D. A name erased on 1, 2 recto has cast off on the preceding page. On i, 2 verso in XVIII. Cent. hand: Grammatica Linguae latinae. Priscianus, Valla, Festus, Servius, and other grammarians are frequently cited in the marginal notes.

Repaired, May 1954 by Douglas Cockerell & Son. Resewn, and rebacked in brown Hermitage calf. Lettered in gold: "Grammatica Latina. MS."
Could the J.D. be John or James Douglas? The 18th century hand is William Hunter's (per Mrs. Brock.)
Physical Description: Bound volume.
Vellum, 10 x 7, ff. 189, originally ff. 190, written in a hand resembling that of a Durham scribe Emylton, in single cols. (excepting Table of Contents in double cols.) of 38-49 lines, each 6 3/4 x 4 3/8, margined with brown crayon, not ruled, signatures, sometimes cropped, no catchwords, foliation (XVI. Cent.), rubricated initials (large and small), and paragraph marks, numerous marginalia, cropped clean, fol. sec. quatur in vim. Cent. XV.
Binding: Original, bevelled beech boards, covered brown calf, twisted vellum back straps, brass clasp-catches, brass-nailed, title (ink), in contemporary hand, on back board: Grammatica, modern title (gilt) on crimson morocco shield: GRAMMATICA LATINA. Cent. XV.
