Content: Unknown Author, Work on Alchemy.
A volume of Alchemical prescriptions, with prescriptions on the margin in both Arabic and Turkish. There is no preface nor conclusion, title, author's name nor date. The following authorities are cited for individual recipes: 'Ali al Bukhari, Ibn 'Urfah al Maghribi, Jamalu'l Din, 'Abdu'l Razzaki'l Samlawi, 'Abdu'l Rahmani'l Maghribi, Ibnu'l Furat, Sherif 'Abdu'llah, Khalidu'bn Yazida'bn Mu'awiyah, Jabir (in the year 196 A.H., 811-12 A.D.), and others.
Remarks: On the first folio, top margin, in the same XVII.-XVIII. Cent. French hand which has similarly inscribed several volumes in this collection: Secrets d'Alchimie partie en Arabe | partie en Turc avec quelques preceptes | de la pierre philosophiale. | MS. de Mr. de Lacroix.
This last line is separated from the preceding by an Arabic alphabet, under the letters of which are written their equivalents in cipher - mainly numerals distinguished by dotting - and is repeated on the last folio.
On folio 70 the author gives a prescription which he obtained in the year 1017 A.H. (1608-9 A.D.)
