PLATE NINE

Knox's Monument

The monument to John Knox, the great reformer, was erected by public subscription in 1825 in the Fir Park which subsequently became the Necropolis. Robert Forrest (1790- 1852) carved the statue which was placed on a tall Greek Doric column and overlooks the Cathedral.
