Allan and Ferguson's Views in Glasgow

PLATE THREE

Glasgow Union Bank

Robert Black (c.1800-69) designed new premises for the Glasgow Union Banking Company at the foot of Virginia Street. In 1843 the bank merged with the Glasgow and Ship Bank to form the Union Bank of Scotland and they sold the Virginia Street office to the City of Glasgow Bank. This engraving is reproduced in James Pagan's Sketch of the History of Glasgow, 1847, as the City of Glasgow Bank. The building was demolished.
