David McKail


This collection includes correspondence, photographs, programmes and scripts.

David McKail was born in Glasgow on 13 March 1938 and made his professional debut as Wally Web in Thornton Wilder's Our Town at the Citizens' Theatre in 1952 and in 1953 he was in William Douglas Hume's The Thistle and The Rose.  After graduating in 1961, from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, he was invited to join the Citizens' for the 1961-62 season.

The solo play Bozzy written by David McKail in the pseudonym of Frederic Mohr, was produced at the 1981 Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it won a Fringe First Award.
