W.F. Frame

This collection includes photographs, postcards and programmes.

W.F. (Flint) Frame was a Glasgow comic, billed as 'The Man U Know', who made his name in the 'free and easies' and music halls of Glasgow's East End, such as Davie Brown's, at the latter end of the 19th and early part of the 20th centuries. Long before Harry Lauder began to appear in the Glasgow Halls, Frame was a popular act, describing himself as the 'Phunniest of Phunny Phellows'. Frame first appeared in pantomime at the Royal Princess's Theatre in 1890, playing the dame in 'Goody Two Shoes'. In the winter of 1898, Frame first travelled to America, appearing at Carnegie Hall, New York.
